Job Competitions
ALOC positions are filled either through short term contract or a job competition pursuant to ALOC's collective agreement with the Government of Ontario.
Competition Process
Eligibility and selection of candidates for ALOC position competitions are based on the following order:
Step 1. All classified/unclassified ALOC/OCAA lawyers on staff and current
Redeployment List.
Step 2. Current Articling Student Hireback Pool Members.
Step 3. Any other current OPS qualified employees.
Step 4. Open competition, only applies if there has been no qualified candidate at the earlier steps.
Articling Student Hireback
As noted above, articling students in the hireback pool are entitled to apply at step two of the competition process. Applications should be filed with the Recruitment Co-ordinator by the closing date of the competition. Students remain in the hireback pool for a period of two years.
