Get Involved

ALOC Members are encouraged to get involved with their association in any of the following ways:

  1. Volunteer to serve as a branch contact.
  2. Volunteer to be on a subcomittee.
  3. Volunteer as a speaker or moderator at ALOC's annual educational conference or suggest seminar topics and/or speakers.
  4. Run for election for ALOC's board of directors at the next annual general members meeting(AGM).

ALOC members can volunteer to serve as a branch contact or as a member of a subcommittee. You don't need to be on ALOC's board of directors to be on most subcommittees. Our subcommittees cover a variety of areas including grievances, ALOC's annual educational conference and other areas affecting ALOC's administration. Please contact the ALOC office if you wish to volunteer to be a branch contact or on a subcommittee.

ALOC appreciates those who agree to present programs at the annual educational conference and those who moderate a panel. You don't need to be on the organizing committee to volunteer as a moderator. ALOC is always interested in members' ideas for seminar topics and speakers for both the ALOC conference and lunch and learn sessions. Please forward your ideas.

Members can also get involved as members of the ALOC board of directors. You must submit a nomination form signed by two other ALOC members and stand as a candidate at ALOC's AGM. Directors serve for a one year term but can stand for re-election at the next AGM. There is no limit on the number of terms that a director can serve. Further details about the election of directors is made available one or two months prior to the annual general members meeting.
